Upcoming Change to Our Chronic Disease Management Benefit

We’re happy to share an upcoming change to our "Managing Chronic Disease" benefit, which will soon be known as "Health Coaching and Chronic Disease Management." This change is not just in name but reflects an expansion of the services provided by our networks, extending beyond the management of chronic conditions. These programs provide symptom management and action plans aimed at addressing modifiable risk factors such as smoking cessation, behaviour modification, and weight loss. Furthermore, we’ll be introducing menopause coaching, which will offer support to members as they manage symptoms and navigate the natural transitions of midlife.

Transition to New Claims System for Extended Health and Dental Claims

We are pleased to share that as part of our commitment to continually enhancing our services, we will be transitioning from our current technology for Extended Health and Dental Claims to a new claims processing system. This system has been effectively managing claims for other lines of business since 2016, handling over 1 billion dollars and 10 million claims last year. Please note this system upgrade does not include drug claims adjudication.

  • How are we transitioning?
In this exciting transition, our top priority is to maintain seamless adjudication for member claims. We are taking a gradual approach to transition to the new platform beginning in the second quarter of 2024, continuing into 2025.
  • What does this mean for you?
At this time, there is no action required on your part. We will be communicating with all our partners, to provide additional detail and awareness as we progress in the journey.

This transition is a key step in further enhancing our internal systems integration, reinforcing our position as Canada’s only fully integrated carrier.

Client Experience Survey Launching on March 25

On March 25, plan sponsors will receive a client experience survey from Dave Adams, our Senior Vice President, Insurance Business.

This new survey is part of our Total Experience Program, which was created to help us listen, learn and act on member and client feedback. The program allows us to reflect the Voice of the Customer into our organization and continually improve our service delivery models to support diverse needs. To date, actionable insights from our survey programs have driven enhancements to our systems, technology and processes to improve the overall experience, including:

  • We increased the type of transactions that can be submitted electronically for automated processing by 20%
  • We simplified and streamlined many of our claims processes, making them more efficient and providing faster turnaround times on claim decisions
  • We implemented an intelligent contract lifecycle management platform to enhance communication
  • We enhanced our data analysis and reporting, to facilitate faster and more concise insights
